September Association Meeting Minutes

5:32 p.m. Meeting was called to order by President, Daniel K.
President Daniel K. presents the agenda, and it is approved by Kristin G.
Introductions
- Daniel K. introduces our new Principal Mrs. Sandra Wiest
• Mrs. Wiest speaks briefly about herself
• A reminder is made that this Friday October 11th is Spirit Day, and
we should wear our Grizzly gear!
Daniel K. makes a motion to approve the meeting minutes from the last meeting on
September 12th.
- Harmandeep S. makes a motion to approve
- Kristin G. seconds the motion
- The minutes for September 12th pass.
Trunk or Treat:
- Event date is coming up Friday, October 18th.
- Theres still open spots for people to reserve a trunk space.
o So far there are 18 trunks signed up.
o Reminders have gone out via Facebook and just recently through talking points.
▪ These reminders will go out again if they need to closer to the event.
- Candy Drive
o Mrs. Wiest suggests that we begin a village voucher incentive for donations to
the candy drive.
o There is a budgeted $600 for the event, which we will use to put towards more
candy.
▪ Mr. Zaker believes that we will need more candy than the $600 budget
allows.
▪ So far approximately $200 from the $600 budget has been spent.
• Purchases were for banners that will be re-used yearly for future
trunk or treat events.
o On either Wednesday or Thursday PTA will count the candy on hand and see if
we need to purchase more candy for the Friday event.

o President Daniel K. asks as a reminder for teacher and staff help to ensure that
the staff parking lot is cleared out for the event by 4:20pm.
- Mrs. Clemmens suggests for the Trunk or Treat admission that can coincide with the
canned food drive event.
o The idea is to have children/families bring at least 1 can of food as a ticket for
admission and entry into the Trunk or Treat event.
▪ This is not mandatory, as no one will be turned away. But this could help
with our canned food drive as well.
- Bathroom situation during the event
o Kristin G. bring this to our attention and suggests that since the Trunk or Treat
event and the Library Family Night are at the same time, that we have a
bathroom available in between the two for families to use.
▪ Mrs. Wiest suggests some kind of cation tape or Halloween themed path
that leads from the Trunk or Treat to the Library and around a specific
bathroom area.
• This would help make sure that students and families do not
venture any further than needed onto the campus during this time.
▪ This idea will be explored further with the next step being confirmation
from Ms. Jenn.
- Check Approvals
o Check #144: Trunk or Treat Banners
o Check #145: Candies for the Walk-a-Thon
▪ Mrs. Campbell-Skipper motions to approve
▪ Mr. Zaker seconds the notion
• The approval for checks #144 and #145 pass.
New Business
- APEX
o APEX will arrive October 15th
o APEX will be primarily responsible for the event with the assistance from the
PTA as it goes on.
- The next meeting will be Thursday, November 14th at 5:30pm via MSteams.
